And of course the Raid, which will either give you the best items in Destiny, or practically nothing at all, depending on your luck. The problem for many players? But now, things might be beginning to change. Why, at long last? Design Lead M. Chung explains:. The overwhelming community response was such that many players didn’t have the numbers on their friends list to experience the activity on a weekly basis.
We are thinking hard about how we can help make that an easier experience in future releases. Very few players literally have five real-life friends with the same game system with the same gaming schedules to run regular Raids with, hence why these third party apps and sites are used frequently. And even getting put in a randomized group that fails at the Strike is better than being on your own and not even daring to attempt it at all.
This is a good step forward, and the end result seems inevitable.

Across Destiny and Destiny 2, Bungie has delivered 10 raids, each with their own quirks, themes, and memorable moments. The short platforming stint gets interesting when you introduce the optional objective of making sure a ball makes it all the way to end, but is too short and lacks the visual flair to stand as a good breather from the action. The last two fights are surprisingly nuanced, however, with a number of different phases and sequences which teams must work through in order to succeed.
The layering of multiple elements works well and still makes for some rewarding moments, but the familiarity of its encounters as well as its loot being recolored versions of the Eater of Worlds sets make it the raid we ran the least. Kicking things off with a platforming segment is a bold move, but the focus on making sure everyone is in the right spot at the right time instead of having each player conquer the challenge on their own is a step forward.
Shooting things in Destiny is fun in and of itself, but expectations for how that shooting is contextualized are a bit higher. This is also the first time we can fly Sparrows in a raid, which makes for some fun twists. Tearing into Insurrection Prime with a trio of tanks is a great catharsis to an encounter that has one team mostly clearing enemies, while a second runs in circles clearing enemies while looking for charges needed to power the tanks.
As a whole, Scourge of the Past lacks the epic scale of most other final bosses. Dropping into the Hellmouth for the first time, for example, is a terrifying experience. From there, a bridge-building exercise where one team member at a time crosses a gap as the rest of the team keeps the bridge intact has a fun action-movie feel to it. But the Leviathan also houses some highpoints in its halls.
The four encounters at the heart of the raid, however, are a pretty strong lineup.

Now, I wouldn’t say that Destiny actively hates its players, but it sure doesn’t do them any favors. Dailies, weeklies, reputation grinding, Crucible matches, raids there’s a seemingly never ending demand on your time just to have a chance at finding a good new weapon or piece of armor. So, naturally, players have decided to work smarter, not harder. It seems that high-level Destiny play isn’t so much about the loot grind as it is about finding every single glitch, exploit, or ‘cheese’ as possible and taking advantage of it until Bungie decides to patch it shut.
But there’s always another piece of cheese around the corner. These are some of the best ones. Some of them still work, so get to studying, Guardian! The Cheese: If you were playing the beta and were hard up for cash, this was a real quick and easy way to fill your coffers.

I do think they should have raid matchmaking, even though it probably wouldn’t work very well the majority of the time due to the nature of people, it would still be a little bit better than the current system of hoping you have several PSN friends or someone already in a group you can mooch off of, or sending random invites to people in the tower, or internet postings.
